Under The Midnight Sun

It’s just around midsummer and we’re just coming from the first site of the evening, a nice rocky beach in the north of the Lofoten Islands. Though nice, the conditions were far from perfect so we decided to move along the road looking for different locations.

After a stop for a panorama, we discover this place. The sun is at its lowest, but still way above the horizon. It’s direct light slightly diffused by the mountains behind me and lights the scene just beautifully. The Lofoten islands are just a wonderful area to shoot. The locations are close to each other, and as wrote in one of my earlier posts, the conditions are different everywhere. The beach we were coming from was rather cloudy, but a simple trip through a tunnel and few minutes later we’re facing an almost blue sky. After this image, our journey continues chasing the light a little more to the south of the islands.

The evening turned out to be rather successful, resulting in quite a few good images. Another trip to Norway followed a just a few weeks later, and now I’m already looking for my next journey to this beautiful country. Unfortunately it won’t be in this year anymore.
